A fitted CHANEL jacket from the 2006 Pre-Fall Paris–New York Métiers d’Art collection, balancing the softness of washed velvet with the shimmer of intricate metalwork.

Presented in the CHANEL 06A catalog under Karl Lagerfeld, this black velvet jacket was selected to represent the collection’s exceptional workmanship. Its delicate chains create a luxurious, elegant sheen that draws the eye both in motion and at rest.

The washed cotton velvet is slightly heavier than conventional velvet, giving it the character and structure needed to carry the abundant chain embellishment. Chains trace the collar and hem, travel along the seams at the front and back, and encircle the wrists.

At the end of each chain sits a petite metal bow measuring approximately half an inch across. Repeated throughout the jacket, these charming bows soften the metallic detailing and give the piece its playful, unmistakably CHANEL personality.

Silver chains turn washed velvet into wearable light.

The superior craftsmanship of this Métiers d’Art piece is immediately apparent. It moves easily between casual and evening styling: wear it simply with denim, or pair it with a long flared skirt or dress for a glamorous silhouette. Its compact, close-fitting cut follows the body and draws attention to the waist.

Made in France. Black washed velvet with a center-front zipper, chain detailing and CC-logo Gripoix buttons arranged three-by-two at each sleeve. Main composition: 85% cotton and 15% metal. Camellia lining: 96% silk and 4% elastane. Combination fabric: 100% silk.
