During Karl Lagerfeld’s era, CHANEL Fall Winter 2017 (17A) did more than place space imagery on clothes. A rocket rose in the centre of the Grand Palais, joining the collection, music and venue in one launch sequence. The collection turns space-age imagery into a complete system spanning set, prints, accessories and silhouette.

CHANEL 17A builds a runway in orbit around a rocket

Models circled the enormous rocket before it rose at the finale. Astronaut and planet prints, spherical bags and silver surfaces carried the story into every detail.

A 1960s future moves into CHANEL tweed
