CHANEL 2020 Fall-Winter 20A can be read through three connected ideas: equestrian release, tweed that opens and moves, and jewel colour concentrated against black.
Pale green and house pink interrupted the monochrome wardrobe, while jackets, coats, suits and dresses shared a light, mobile attitude.
At the Grand Palais, models appeared in conversation rather than isolation, making the presentation itself part of the collection’s meaning.
CHANEL 20A Equestrian Source|Freedom in 2020 Fall-Winter
The collection was presented in Paris on 3 March 2020. Virginie Viard’s “Freedom!” described both the sensation of riding and the refusal to hold the silhouette still.
A photograph of Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Piaggi in equestrian clothes around 1980, Gabrielle Chanel’s racehorse Romantica, Les Biches and Pegasus lace formed an unusually layered set of references.

CHANEL 20A Tweed in Motion|Jackets, Coats and Opening Details
Snaps released jodhpurs over tall boots; pared-back fastenings appeared on jackets and coat dresses. Across 72 looks, function shaped the visual line.
Zips in skirts and generous coats disclosed matching tweed shorts or bustiers. Patchwork texture, scalloped edges and feathers ensured that monochrome never became flat.
The result was recognisably CHANEL, but calibrated for stride, gesture and changing proportion.

CHANEL 20A Jewel Colour|Gripoix, Crosses and Cabochons
Pearl-framed crosses, green and pink cabochons, belts and large pendants supplied an intense register of colour.
Printed and embroidered crosses repeated the motif across body and accessory, binding the looks together.

CHANEL 20A Shared Runway|Pairs, Trios and Riding Boots
Pairs and trios spoke and smiled as they crossed the runway, replacing formal distance with a sense of shared momentum.
Riding boots unified dresses, shorts, suits and coats, making differences in cut and styling easier to read.
