Customs duties and import taxes
- Customs duties and import taxes are not included in the item price or shipping fee.
- Customs duties and import taxes are the buyer’s responsibility.
- Payment is usually requested by DHL or the delivery company before delivery, not at checkout.
- In many cases, DHL sends a payment link by SMS or email for online payment.
- The amount depends on the customs office of each country, the item category, timing, and local rules.
- If you are unsure, please check with your local customs office before purchase.
What we cannot do
- Declare a lower value than the actual purchase price
- Declare the package as a Gift
Customs duties are assessed based on the declared value. TC JAPAN is also a registered taxable business in Japan, so we cannot accept either request.
Important notes about ID documents
For high-value items, DHL may ask the recipient to submit an ID document.
For example, for shipments to the United States, DHL may request an SSN (Social Security Number) or EIN (Employer Identification Number). Requirements differ by country and region.
Important: the name on the ID document must exactly match the name on the shipping label.
If the names do not match, the ID document may not be accepted, and the package may be returned to Japan.
If DHL or TC JAPAN contacts you about ID verification, please call DHL Customer Service as soon as possible and follow DHL’s instructions directly.
ID verification can take longer when handled through us because of time differences. Direct communication with DHL is usually faster and more reliable.
If the package is returned for any customer-related reason, return shipping and reshipping costs will be the customer’s responsibility.
If you are concerned, please contact the appropriate authority in your country. We are unable to confirm every country’s local ID or customs rules in advance.
