CHANEL Métiers d’Art 2017/18 “Paris-Hamburg,” known at TC JAPAN as 18PF, was presented in Hamburg, Germany, the birthplace of Karl Lagerfeld.
Sailor caps, anchor-motif CC buttons and rope-like cable knits brought the atmosphere of the port city into CHANEL tweed, cashmere and knit dresses.
Alongside the story of the show and its guests, this article presents six dresses, cardigans, tweed jackets and coats with actual product photographs.

What is CHANEL Métiers d’Art 18PF? Paris-Hamburg and the specialist ateliers
Métiers d’Art is CHANEL’s annual collection celebrating the savoir-faire of specialist ateliers in embroidery, metalwork, millinery, feather work, shoemaking and tweed.
Fine handwork, decoration and exceptional materials often come together in these pieces, making the collection a concentrated expression of CHANEL craftsmanship.
In Paris-Hamburg, that expertise appeared through sailor caps, cable knits, anchor motifs and tweeds inspired by the port city.

The show took place at the Elbphilharmonie concert hall overlooking Hamburg harbour.
Models walked around a live orchestra, bringing clothing, music and the port landscape together as one stage.
Hamburg was Karl Lagerfeld’s birthplace. It was also the city where the Beatles performed repeatedly in clubs before becoming famous.
Ships, music, uniforms and 1960s miniskirts came together in a CHANEL collection that felt intelligent, slightly boyish and modern.

Kaia Gerber, Stella Maxwell, Anna Ewers and Grace Elizabeth were among the models on the runway.
Lily-Rose Depp, Kristen Stewart and Tilda Swinton were seen among the guests.
Kaia, then sixteen, wore an oversized navy knit with long leg warmers.
It was a memorable look that made the rich Métiers d’Art collection feel youthful and slightly street-influenced.

The foundation of a marine wardrobe is navy, ivory and grey.
These colours connect naturally with denim, black trousers and a white shirt already in the wardrobe.
Anchor buttons and cable knitting give even a simple combination enough character.
A dress works on its own, while a cardigan or tweed jacket can be placed over everyday clothes. Paris-Hamburg 18PF makes Métiers d’Art craftsmanship easy to enjoy in real life.
Check the measurements when choosing knits and coats
Fit can vary even within the same tag size, especially between oversized cuts, slim designs and stretch knits. Compare the measurements on each product page with a similar garment you already own.
