Is this really CHANEL?
It is the question that gives this collection its energy.
CHANEL 26PF retains the house’s tweed, pearls and black dresses, yet loosens them into something more anonymous and more urban—clothes that might pass by before revealing what they are.
The 2026 Métiers d’Art collection does not abandon the familiar codes. It asks how quietly they can live in the world.
A disused subway station offered a place where different ages, jobs and lives could briefly share one platform. When the train arrived, leopard, tailoring, pearls and denim emerged together without settling into one prescribed CHANEL identity.
The opening model looked almost deliberately ordinary in a white top, zip-up layer and faded denim. She was Hyderabad-born Bhavitha Mandava, the first Indian model to open a CHANEL show.
For her Met Gala debut a few months later, Mandava returned to that outline in CHANEL Haute Couture. The seemingly simple white tank, half-zip and faded-jeans look took about 250 hours to make.
The trousers were silk mousseline printed to look like worn denim. Trompe-l’œil and painstaking handwork produced an illusion so complete that the couture nearly disappeared. This is luxury designed to be discovered, not announced.

The jackets are layered with denim and softened under coats rather than isolated as formal icons. Their richness does not depend on looking precious.
Embroidery produces denim-like surfaces and bouclé stands in for flannel. Lesage, Goossens, Lemarié, Atelier Montex and Maison Michel bring the depth of Métiers d’Art to clothes that remain visually familiar.
Matthieu Blazy allows technique to support the wearer instead of overtaking them. That shift makes the collection feel open to many kinds of people and many kinds of city.
Super Dacob’s distinctive voice comes with a genuinely incisive understanding of fashion. We are devoted followers, and his honest CHANEL commentary adds another useful angle to the show. Follow his YouTube channel for a closer look.
The complete film gathers many separate lives into one moving picture. Jackets, coats and dresses do not belong to a single ideal; they take on the character of whoever wears them.
The collection may initially seem far removed from the CHANEL many people recognise. Yet its exceptional materials, exact construction and patient handwork become clearer with every closer look.
Did the change feel liberating, or are you still deciding? We would be delighted to know how this new CHANEL felt to you. Please email us whenever you wish—your perspective is always welcome.
