Gabrielle Chanel created the 2.55 in 1955. Its chain made it possible to wear the handbag on the shoulder and keep both hands free.
Quilting, chains and flaps became part of a design language that is recognised far beyond one country. That is why a bag can change proportion and softness while still looking unmistakably connected to CHANEL.
Why measurements matter more than size names
Mini, Maxi and Jumbo sound precise, but they do not replace actual dimensions. For an international online purchase, width, height, depth and strap drop should be compared with a bag you already own.
Centimetres and inches are both useful because listings from different markets may use different systems. The same applies to condition language: photographs of corners, the base, flap underside and lining are more reliable than a broad grade on its own.

CHANEL 25 and the shift toward softer bags
The CHANEL 25 uses quilted leather, a leather-interlaced chain, two front pockets and the double C on a rounded hobo shape.
It is less rigid than a Classic Flap and is designed to sit more naturally against the body. CHANEL currently presents Mini, Small, Medium and Large sizes.
Margot Robbie and Kylie Minogue appear in the campaign. Michel Gondry directs Minogue again 25 years after Come Into My World, connecting the campaign to the design's name.
The model is prominent now. Its long-term status cannot yet be known.
Classic Flap prices across a global resale market
Reuters, citing UBS research, reported that the price of a classic quilted CHANEL flap bag more than tripled between 2015 and 2024.
The global nature of resale makes comparisons tempting, but prices may differ because of condition, restoration, accessories, local taxes, currency movement and the seller's market.
A listing in another currency is not automatically cheaper after shipping and local import costs are considered. More importantly, a high asking price is not evidence of a completed sale.
Keep the comparison narrow

Care before and after international shipping

New releases and price news are useful context. The decision still rests on the individual bag's measurements, condition, material and total purchase cost.
